The Freemasons- Should I join?

The topic has come up many times in my life personally. But, before I get into that. I was wondering if there was anyone who may be able to answer this question. Should I join and why should I join Freemasonry. There are so many different groups in Freemasonry, The Scottish Rite, The Knights Templar, The Shriner etc, etc . . . Any advice? Join? Which one? Yes, join or Run Like Hell!
I've heard so many "interesting" statements made of the Masons, some really good like helping kids and hospitals etc and some/most kinda odd, almost spookie! From one who has personal knowledge and membership with a lodge, is there any advice as to the benefits and features of being a member.
